I don’t usually do this. Rarely do I reveal where I am or what I’m doing. The exception is a result of my deep appreciation for what I’m experiencing at this moment.
It’s the Thankgiving weekend in Canada. Tomorrow, Monday, is the holiday where we celebrate with family and friends our harvest of living in our great country. Tonight, I am with my wife at our year round cottage in North Western Ontario. And we will celebrate by giving thanks to each other for what we have with a wonderful turkey dinner with all the right side dishes!
Earlier today I’ve seen Loons, Hawks, Eagles and Deer (capitalized out of respect).
Here is what I see right now from our deck: fall foliage reflecting in the lake, a mirror like finish on the water of the sky and vibrant color eveywhere lit with a cloudy light. I hear only the birds. No people, no boats, nothing motorized. As I write this I also hear the leaves falling in the forest. I smell autumn. It is fresh and clean. I feel warm and cool air at the same time yet there is no wind. It is completely silent and completely still.
I am so incredibly thankful for this experience. It is very humbling. And I know how lucky I am to be here. Thank you!!
