There is a new danger in our connected world to be aware of!
Actually it’s a modified version of distracted driving. Instead of watching out for distracted drivers who are texting while driving we now have to be on the lookout for distracted shoppers pushing loaded shopping carts.
I have two requests for all of you who talk or text while shopping in a crowded grocery store.
If you need to talk on your smart phone while pushing your cart use two hands on the cart. It’s obvious one hand does not provide sufficient control when making a turn into the next aisle. How you keep your phone to your ear is up to you. If you choose to use the speaker remember that no one else needs to listen to your inane conversations.
If you need to text while shopping then please pull over to the side of the aisle. Don’t come to a sudden stop in the middle of the aisle to reply to a message so that others can’t get around you.
What’s next? Shopping carts with turn indicators and brake lights? High visibility vests worn by phone addicted shoppers?
I wonder why phones that are so smart attract such dumb (disrespectful/selfish/ignorant) users?
