A Comment on Comments

I like to read the comments people make following online news stories. If you read enough of them about one specific article it’s possible to see a consensus which can help shape an opinion. And usually, a lot of comments is an indication of the interest level and the value of the story.

However they also tell me a lot about the people that leave them. Most use the anonymity of what they think are clever user names to show how smart they think they are. This is usually supported by spelling, grammar and punctuation that is barely at early grade school levels.

I am always entertained by blatant stupidity of reviews. Example: “we did not find the hotel’s sushi restaurant suitable for our family breakfast”.  And that would be the hotel’s fault?

I’m wondering. Why am I wasting time reading these again?
